Daily Devotions: How to Spend Time with God Each Day

Updated: Apr 22

In the busyness of everyday life, setting aside time to meet with God can feel like a challenge.

But the truth is, spending just 10 to 15 minutes a day in personal devotions can completely change your life.

It’s a simple yet powerful way to grow in your faith, find peace in tough moments, and hear clearly from the Lord.

Why Daily Devotions Matter

This daily habit isn’t about checking a box—it’s about building a real relationship with God.

Whether you're facing work struggles, financial stress, or just a sense of uncertainty, making time to read the Bible and pray gives you a fresh perspective.

God’s Word centers your heart, and prayer opens your life to His wisdom and strength.

A Simple Routine to Get You Started

You don’t need anything fancy. A cup of coffee, a quiet place, and your Bible are more than enough.

Here’s a straightforward devotional flow you can follow:

  1. Start Your Morning With Intention: Begin by setting the tone for the day—grab your coffee, take a breath, and sit somewhere quiet. This helps you shift your focus from the noise of life to the presence of God.

  2. Read the Bible Daily: Follow a reading plan or simply pick a passage from the New Testament, Psalms, or Proverbs. Ask God to speak to you through His Word.

  3. Write Down What Stands Out: Keep a notepad nearby. When a verse jumps out at you—write it down. Maybe it's a promise from God or a reminder you need. Over time, you’ll build a journal full of encouragement to look back on.

  1. Talk to God Honestly Begin your prayer with praise and thanksgiving. Tell God what's on your heart. Confess anything you need to bring to Him. Then, ask boldly for what you need. Don’t hold back.

Don’t Pray Wimpy Prayers

It’s easy to fall into the habit of praying safe, small prayers.

But God calls us to pray with bold faith. He loves when you claim His promises and trust Him for big things.

Instead of saying, "Lord, help me have a good day," try this:

"Lord, your Word says in Ecclesiastes 3:11 that You’ve made everything beautiful in its time. You made me, and this is my time. Shape me to be beautiful inside and out, just as You promised. I believe You will do it."

That kind of prayer—rooted in Scripture and full of faith—moves the heart of God. And over time, you’ll start to see Him move in your life in ways you didn’t expect.

Faith That Builds Over Time

The longer you stick with daily devotions, the more you’ll see God’s hand in your life.

You may not always get the answer you’re expecting, but you will see His faithfulness, His timing, and His presence.

This isn’t just a habit. It’s the foundation of a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus.

And the more you show up, the more you’ll experience the peace, wisdom, and strength that comes from walking closely with Him.

Make time for God each day—just 15 minutes. Read your Bible. Talk to Him. Write down what He’s saying. And ask big.

He’s listening, and He’s ready to do amazing things in your life.
